Pirots 4: Slot Overview
Editor’s Note: This review now includes details of Pirots 4 Inferno, the fiery final expansion in the series, which adds new mechanics like Fire Minions, the Inferno Coin game, and the unpredictable Charlie feature.
Unless you were in the ELK Studios design room, the exact origin story of the Pirots franchise remains a mystery. Still, it isn’t hard to imagine the pitch: what if Pac-Man’s symbol-gobbling antics were fused with the thrill of online slots? The result was Pirots (2023), where four hungry parrots won over players by chomping their way through gems. The idea proved so popular that it spawned sequels: the prehistoric Pirots 2, the Wild West–themed blockbuster Pirots 3, and the cluster-pays detour Pirots X. Now, the flock blasts off into the cosmos in Pirots 4, expanding the formula with an outer-space theme and a galaxy of new features.
So how exactly did the parrots end up in orbit? According to the game’s tongue-in-cheek lore, a cosmic monster emerged from a black hole, snatched their treasure, and disappeared into the void. Undeterred, the parrots suited up, leapt into the vortex, and began their interstellar pursuit. That’s why players now join them on an adventure filled with space stations, alien encounters, black holes, and endless starlit backdrops. Bets range from €0.20 to €100 per spin, with the option of activating X-iter feature buys. Regardless of approach, the math model is tuned to high volatility, and the RTP sits at 94%.
Gameplay takes place on a 6×6 grid, where each round begins with symbols dropping into place. The four parrots move around to collect gems matching their colours, as well as feature symbols. Birds can make multiple moves before a refill occurs, with collected gems removed and new ones cascading into the gaps. The process continues until no further moves are possible. Gem payouts scale with level progression, starting at 0.05x to 0.1x the bet at level 1, and climbing as high as 7.5x to 30x at level 7. Wilds substitute for gems at their current payout level, further boosting potential.
Pirots 4: Features & Bonuses
Wild Symbols
Wilds substitute for any gem at their current payout level. They can make even modest clusters more valuable, especially at higher levels of progression.
Fire Minions (Inferno Expansion)
Exclusive to Pirots 4 Inferno, Fire Minions appear on the grid to disrupt the action in unpredictable ways. They can destroy symbols, create space for new ones, or interact with parrots and features to trigger chain reactions.
Inferno Coin Game
Another addition from the Inferno update, this feature transforms the grid into a fiery coin collection round. Coins can carry instant cash values, multipliers, or special modifiers, adding a high-risk, high-reward element to gameplay.
Charlie Feature
The chaotic Charlie mechanic brings random twists to the game, such as spawning additional wilds, shuffling parrots, or dropping in unexpected prizes. Designed to shake up routine spins, Charlie keeps the volatility high and gameplay unpredictable.
Gem Leveling
As in earlier Pirots entries, collected gems increase in value as the game progresses. Starting at 0.05x–0.1x per symbol at level 1, payouts grow dramatically by the time they reach 7.5x–30x per symbol at level 7, making long sequences highly rewarding.
X-iter Feature Buys
For players who prefer shortcuts, ELK’s X-iter system offers several feature buy options at different price points. These include guaranteed access to free rounds, boosted volatility setups, or instant entry into bonus features like Inferno Coins.
Pirots 4: Slot Verdict
With Pirots 4, ELK Studios proves once again that this quirky parrot-fueled series still has plenty of life left in it. By moving the action into outer space — and later into the fiery chaos of Pirots 4 Inferno — the developer has successfully kept the formula fresh without abandoning the core gobble-and-collect mechanic that made the original so engaging. The addition of features like Fire Minions, the Inferno Coin game, and the mischievous Charlie feature injects more unpredictability, ensuring that even veteran fans won’t feel like they’re playing the same old sequel.
The strengths are obvious: a playful, highly interactive grid mechanic; escalating gem values that create thrilling win potential; and a 25,000x-style ceiling (depending on version) that keeps the dream of huge payouts alive. The X-iter buy options also give players flexibility in how they approach the game, whether they want steady base play or instant access to high-volatility features.
That said, the 94% RTP will feel low for some, especially in a volatile slot where dry spells are common. And while the space and Inferno themes are entertaining, not every player will warm to the chaotic presentation and constant on-screen movement.
Overall, Pirots 4 is a bold and entertaining continuation of one of ELK Studios’ most distinctive series. It won’t win over everyone, but for players who enjoy ELK’s trademark volatility and the unique symbol-chomping gameplay of the Pirots franchise, it’s a wild intergalactic ride worth taking.
